This item is great. It comes with additional side pieces that make it adjustable for any sized opening. There is no permanent mounting equipment, but the adjustable mounts are really easy to use and actually holds pretty strong. My husband and I have bumped into the gate pretty hard at times when we aren't looking where we are going and it hasn't fallen down. The mounts are also good for different width situations, because each one can be adjusted in and out as needed (for example: on baseboard, versus wall.)
