I bought this for my cousin, but had to try it out before gifting it. I had the same problem as mentioned above with the monitor not working at first, and was a little scared because I couldn't find any company info online about it. I held down the monitor button for a little longer than the 1-3 seconds that the instructions said, about 3-5 seconds. It will then "seek" the baby unit in the other room. Once these sync up, it works great. If you see a red blinking "x" near the signal (top left like a cell phone) on the video monitor, it means it hasn't "found" the baby unit.
