This is not a cheap gate. Obviously, if you are interested in it, you are looking for something that will look nice. The problem is, once you weigh it down or put a chair or other heavy item behind it to keep it from being pushed along on the floor, it looks messy instead. I bought this gate to contain a 3 yr old Havanese weighing under 20 pounds. What we didn't realize is that if your floors are wood, even a small dog can easily push the gate and get around it.
